An Experimental Documentary on Energy Greed

A film exploring the greed for energy from a feminist perspective where rituals are utilized as artistic method. Shot with digital camera and a hand-powered Bolex (16mm) camera, and site-specific vegetation was used to create images (phytograms) directly on the emulsion.
It has been filmed in eleven locations in Sweden: Burseryd, Kinnekulle, Sandviken, Hofors, Grängesberg, Njakafjäll, Meselefors, Kallak, Ligga, Messaure and Jokkmokk with a focus on extraction of energy and raw materials in relation to an increasing dependence on digital technologies. Rituals were conducted in each place, resulting in a "road movie," that explores energy shortage in Sweden from a unique perspective. The filmmakers chose to highlight how life in urban centers is dependent on nature and the people living in sparsely-populated communities in Sweden.
The film is produced by Vague Research Studios, which consists of visual artist Kajsa G. Eriksson, interaction designer Lena Berglin, and visual artist film maker Maria Magnusson. The music is created by and in collaboration with the composer and sound artist Klara Andersson the graphic form is by the graphic designer Milena Karlsson.
